In wind turbines both engines and gearboxes in the nacelle need cooling. Often this is done by installing a radiator package. In very cold winters the same installations may need warming. The demands of this market sub segment are very similar to the requirements of our customers within radiator manufacturing.

Wind turbines are often erected as off-shore installations and therefore the operational demands can be significantly higher. It is critical that the axial fan units are highly durable and corrosion free. Our axial fan solutions are tested and proven both in terms of performance and strength. We also support our customers with detailed information for each individual axial fan configuration, including natural frequency and deflection data.

For this type of application we offer a combination of aluminium (AL) hub parts and fan blades in glass reinforced polyamide PAG enabling operating temperatures up to 120°C. Fan blades in an antistatic version of PAG, called PAGAS (ATEX classification) are available for mining applications and on oil rigs. We do also offer different types of surface treatments to comply with local demands.

Engine manufacturers

The vibration level is typically relative high as the axial fans are often mounted directly on to the crankshaft of the engine, hence it is important that the axial fan is as light weighted as possible.
